The Challenge (Zimbabwe)

Home > The Challenge (Zimbabwe)

Zimbabwe’s natural wealth has become a double-edged sword.

Where opportunity meets vulnerability, truth must be spoken.

While resource extraction drives economic growth, weak regulation, unsafe practices, and limited oversight have left many Zimbabwean communities vulnerable.
The impacts are clear:

Contaminated rivers and degraded soils, affecting agriculture and water access.

Displacement and loss of livelihoods among smallholder farmers.

Increasing health risks and ecosystem damage.

A widening gap between local suffering and public awareness.

Despite these issues, reliable, community-based data and communication platforms remain scarce, leaving affected citizens unheard and policymakers without evidence.
aMaisiri begins its journey here in Zimbabwe to bridge that gap, document the unseen, and help ensure that progress never comes at the expense of people or the environment.
